Meet Your Farmers
We're going to be on TV! Wisconsin Foodie came to the Food Enterprise Center to film Wisco Pop!, Kickapoo Coffee, and B&E's Trees & we're the lead episode for Season 9. This calls for a celebration! Come on down to the Food Enterprise Center, 1201 N. Main Street, Viroqua to watch the show in the space in which it was filmed. The program airs April 13 at 7:30 pm on the Flagship channel and 8pm on the Wisconsin channel.http://wptschedule.org/episodes/47050977/Wisconsin-Foodie/BandEs-Trees/Wisco-Pop/Kickapoo/ More details to come.
Come out for a tour of the woods & our new sugar house, and get a taste of our delicious maple syrup hot off the evaporator!
If you have been to our farm before, make note this event is being held at our new sugar house, which is accessed from Rognstad Ridge, not Oarlock.
The sugar house address is 30904 Rognstad Ridge, Cashton. It's a brand new address & folks have had trouble finding it with GPS.
From Westby go north on Hwy 27 to Cty PC. Take PC, then an immediate left onto Rognstad Ridge Road. Stay on Rognstad Ridge Road- at the fork with Lars Hill keep right/straight. Our driveway starts by a red house and shed. We'll have signs from PC back.
Hope to see you there!

From the Folk School:
Join us for RampFest, the Driftless Folk School’s annual gathering to mark the beginning of Spring! RampFest is a daylong community event on Saturday, April 30th celebrating ramps, local wild foods, folk skills, and community at B&E’s Trees outside Newry, Wisconsin. The farm is a working commercial maple syrup operation that is full to the brim with the flora and fauna of forested land – which means ramps! Throughout the day, attendees will have an opportunity to learn about a variety of topics from DFS instructors in three organized educational sessions. Hands-on workshops include sustainable ramp harvesting, spring ephemeral and tree identification, maple syrup production, spoon carving, knot-tying, primitive skills, and more! RampFest is a family friendly community event.
Time: 8:00am-6:30pm (with camping Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday evening bonfire)
Lodging: Attendees are encouraged to camp on site the night of Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30.
Accommodations are rustic. There are outhouses and water for hand washing. There are no showers.

What are Ramps?
Ramps (Allium tricoccum) are also known as a spring onion, wild leek, and/or wild garlic. Nature has blessed the Driftless region of SW Wisconsin with rolling hills, spring fed streams and a significant amount of maple forests. The latter is a perfect environment for the growth of ramps. If you have never had them, think of a bulb of onion/garlic the size of your thumb connected to a red stem that spreads its wings into diamond shaped greens. And, the whole plant is edible!
