Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup
What does it Taste like?
Every so often you find find a combination that is somehow greater than the sum of its parts. Our Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup is one of those things. The bright memory of bourbon balances the rich, full sweetness of our own maple syrup.
There is something else there, something wild and woodsy hewn from the forest and subtly encouraged by the charred oak of the barrels.
We have toiled with pen and paper, shot glasses of Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup at our side, trying to craft a description that does the flavor justice.
We have failed.
You'll just have to try it for yourself.
How is it Made?
At the earliest signs of winter's end, we are out tromping through the snowy hills of driftless Wisconsin collecting sap and boiling it into pure, organic maple syrup.
Through collaboration with Central Waters Brewing Co we fill Bourbon Barrels with our syrup and let it age for a year, imparting notes of Bourbon and Oak while mellowing the sweetness.
At the end of the year we hand bottle and wax our Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup and send it to you!
The barrels then go back to Central Waters Brewing Co. to age a super-special beer. If you come across the final culmination of this collaboration, sip slowly and savor. It took years to bring it to your lips. Let it linger a while.
